Peer Review Policy (Roles of Editors and Reviewers)

The Editor-in-Chief is the primary person who reviews each manuscript after it is received.

  • The manuscript is returned to the related author if it is not properly prepared in accordance with JAVAR guidelines.
  • The manuscript is immediately rejected if the material is inadequate, unsatisfactory, or does not fall within the parameters of JAVAR.

After clearing the initial screening, the work is forwarded to a minimum of two knowledgeable peer reviewers.

Through the journal management system, JAVAR sends out an email inviting reviewers. The invitation email only contains the manuscript’s title and abstract. The reviewer has complete access to the entire document after accepting the invitation. The reviewers’ identities are kept private.

Following the end of the peer-review process and the author’s completion of any necessary edits, the revised manuscript is forwarded to the section editor or editors for critical evaluation and primary remarks regarding acceptance. The Editor-in-Chief ultimately decides on a manuscript after taking into account the section editor’s and expert reviewers’ feedback.

Any of the following could be the choice:
Accept (editorial revisions or not)
Encourage the writers to make additional changes.
Reject with potential resubmission: The authors are advised that additional research may support a resubmission.
Reject, usually due to specialized interest, lack of originality, inadequate conceptual development, or significant technical and/or interpretive issues.

An article’s peer review should be finished in four weeks. The Editor-in-Chief makes a decision in about five weeks.

Note:

  • The article will be deemed rejected and the metadata will be removed from the system if the relevant author does not submit the updated version within three weeks of receiving the revision letter.
  • The article will be deemed rejected and its metadata removed from the system if the corresponding author does not reply within two weeks of the submission being accepted.
